A 3-Column Theme is the Best for WordPress Blog Profiting

Many popular themes in wordPress are 2-column ones. Both themes from installation, the Default, and the classic, are 2-columns themes. Some other popular 2-column themes include Green Marine, Blix, Connections, and Almost Spring.

However, for blog profiting, 2 columns are not enough. A 3-column them is the best.

For most profitable blog sites, the majority revenue comes from advertising, thus you need space for ads placement. A 3-column theme gives you more real estate since you can place different type of ads, - text ads, image ads, PPC ads, affiliate links, your own product’s banner, on both columns.

There are 2 types of 3-column themes, the fixed width and fluid width.

The theme I use for this site, Modernpaper, is fixed width, - 960pix.

Some great 3-column themes, AndyBlue, Journalized Winter, etc, have fluid width, which means the page width fits to the monitor screen width, and the column width changes proportionally based on the monitor width.

The fluid width theme were popular couple of years ago when bigger monitors just came to the market, people had screens of all different sizes, 15-inch, 17-inch, 19-inch, … A fluid was good to fit their screens by adjusting page width by itself. Nowadays most people upgraded to wider screens thus a 960pix fixed width page should be well acceptable.
