Tagging, which is simply a different and better way to organize blog post, plays impotent role in blog SEO. WordPress 2.2 or earlier version does not include this feature, but there are plenty of plugs to make tag work in WP website.

Among them the most fame is “Ultimate Tag Warrior” which let you tag the proper keywords for your posts at the bottom of the posts. Another tag plugin, “Tagalize-It”, also makes tagging throughout your posts really simple.

Installing “Ultimate Tag Warrior” is not so hard. What you need to be aware of is that, this plugin will make some data structure changes to your WP database. It adds 3 new tables to the database:

wp_post2tag
wp_tag_synonyms
wp_tags

These tables are needs to manage the tags.

This plugin is fairly completed because it supports many advanced tagging features. It may get conflict with other plugins in certain saturation.

The good news is, the new release of WordPress 2.3 has included a build-in tag function that is very similar to “Ultimate Tag Warrior”. If you have had “Ultimate Tag Warrior”, it is easy to convert to the build-in taging system; otherwise you’ll be able to make tagging when you upgrade to WprdPress 2.3.
