Monetize from Your Web Hosting’s Affiliate Program

What ever web hosting service vendor you choose, most likely an affiliate program is available from it. since you are using it anyway, why not make some extra money from it? You don’t need to put extended efforts on it. Just drop the affiliate link in a few places on the site such as:

1. Add “Hosted by …” message in the footer

As what I have in the footer of every page, “Hosted by HostMonster“. If people like your site content and performance, they may consider using the same hosting service when they notice what you are using.

2. Mention your web host in the About page

Give credit to the service providers you are using, such as software (WordPress), plugins, theme, hosting service, etc. Have a brief description about your web hosting (with affiliate link) and what’s good with it.

3. Add banner ads in the side bar

For example, I have a small banner on the left side bar.

4. Add it to Recommended Sites

As you may see on many blog sites, there is a “Recommended Sites” list in the side bar, the web hosting affiliate link is usually one of it.

5. Write a post about your web hosting

Like the one you are reading. But be careful, don’t over-promote with hype selling messages. You should tell your real experience about your web hosting. Since you’ve used it for a while, you know what’s good what’s not. Provide readers with useful information of the strength and weakness of the service, let them make the choice. Try to help, not sell.

As for my web hosting, HostMonster, what I like is the big resources of storage, monthly transfer, unlimited domains, with a good price (5.95/mo). But it had certain disadvantages, — it is shared hosting, and it has restricted CPU usage quota. That means there would be scalability issues when my site’s traffic increases suddenly. But so far it meets my needs well.
