Niche is a hot topic all the time in the internet business circle. Go to the niche market, do the niche marketing, make niche products, and sell to niche customers, that’s what internet marketing experts talk about repeatedly.
In the bogging world, what I hear is, if you want to make a profitable blog, build a niche blog.
What a niche is anyway. Based on what I know, a niche is something tiny, small, special, unique, weird, cornered, alternative, alternated, off-mainstream, off-track, … I am confused.
Until I saw my brother Moxie’s blog, I understand, - a niche is a gadget.
Moxie is a fan of gadgets. He plays all kinds of gadgets, one of which is Nokia N95 cell phone. He loves this toy too much and so built a blog for it, - N95Blog.com, his last post is
Watch DivX movies on your N95
It took less than an hour for him to set it up and running on WordPress. Then he just post info that he would collect anyway whenever he is in mode of this toy.
In a few months, his N95 blog attracted so many visitors and traffic, the site Google rank jumped from 0 to 5, and AdSense checks keep come in. His blog wins and his wallet wins, what a win-win situation!
Here I’d like to make 5 points of his success on N95Blog:
- He picked up a deep niche: mobile communication device > cell phone > Nokia phone > N95.
- He did research by checking alexa ranking to find out the topic that he can do and have good reader bases. He saw other N95 blogs doing great with not so great posts. Then he knew he can do better.
- One narrow topic on a hot gadget always has loyal reader base and it’s easier to do SEO. That’s what I said, - a niche is a gadget.
- He has a blog network to promote his blogs.
- He loves his gadget heart ans soul, which would attract a lot of visitors with the same true passion. The Low of Attraction works all the time.
